How the connection between your agent and your vault works.
WhyVault speaks MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard AI agents use to access tools and data. You install nothing: your agent connects to your vault through an address and you sign in once.
Beta in preparation
Connections open with the beta. You will then find the exact address in the app under Connect.
How a connection works
- You copy the MCP address from the app.
- You add it to your agent (see the guides on the left).
- The agent opens a WhyVault sign-in window. You sign in and decide whether it may read only or read and write.
- Done. The connection shows up in the app under Connections, where you can revoke it at any time.
What the agent does first
On first access the agent reads your vault's overview and the files in 9_System/. They say who you are, how it should sound and what the agent may do. After that it searches and reads what it needs instead of loading everything.
